Coordination procedures between data originators and AIS provider

Data originators

The aeronautical information service has been defined by the International Civil Aviation Organisation in Annex 15, and undertakes to ensure that the necessary information/data is distributed with regards to the operational security, regularity, economy and efficiency of international air navigation.

For these purposes, the provider of the aeronautical information service must compile the information described in the Annex itself, and in another applicable European or National regulation, and distribute it as an integrated package of Aeronautical information (IAIP) which must be supplied by the various state services related to aircraft operations.

Specifically, Annex 15 establishes in paragraph 2.1.5 that:

«[…] the generators of aeronautical data and aeronautical information and the aeronautical information system agree to adopt official regulations to ensure the timely and complete provision of aeronautical data and aeronautical information.»

It is essential that all parties collaborate in order for the Aeronautical Information Service (AIS) to fulfil its purpose, and the role of the generators of aeronautical data is fundamental since they are the first link in the chain.
