Vice admiral Engineer José Francisco Pérez-Ojeda y Pérez initiated his career in the General Corps of the Navy as a sub-lieutenant in 1978. He graduated in Telecommunications Engineering from the Technical School of Telecommunications Engineering of the Polytechnic University of Madrid and as a doctor in Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Vigo in 2007, where he completed the doctoral thesis “Contribution to the Prediction and Measurement of the SER in Ships”.
When destined as head of inspection of Construcciones del Arsenal in Ferrol, the Juan Carlos I LHD ship was commissioned and Pérez-Ojeda y Pérez was one of the persons responsible for launching Frigate F-105 “Cristobal Colón”. He has participated in the F-100 programme as an Engineer in the Combat System area and has been head of the BRASS e In-Port programme (modernisation of HF Radio Stations).
Within the Navy, he served as Director of Infrastructure -holding the responsibility in the management, administration and control of infrastructure resources- and information and telecommunications systems. He has also been Assistant Director-General of Planning and the Environment of the Directorate General of Infrastructure for the Ministry of Defence.
He has been awarded several medals, among of which stand out the Grand Cross of Naval Merit, Grand Cross of Saint Hermenegild and Commander of Saint Hermenegild, among others.
