ENAIRE 2020 Flight Plan: Our Roadmap
The ENAIRE strategic plan sets out the roadmap to follow for the 2017-2020 period and pays special attention to ATCO workforce needs for the coming years, taking air traffic evolution, the challenges of the Single European Sky and tech modernisation as benchmarks.
More ATCOs are scheduled to be progressively recruited to meet capacity requirements across a setting of growing demand and to improve airspace efficiency and take technology forward to ensure enhanced service-provision quality for our airspace users.
Open call to become an air traffic controller
A call for ATCO positions is open until 24 November. This is the second call organised in two years, after receiving authorisation to recruit 130 permanent ATCOs in accordance with the following breakdown:
• 99 places in the call.
• 15 places allocated to the reserve list of candidates from the previous call held in May 2016.
• A maximum of 16 places set aside for ATCOs on leave who apply for reinstatement.
• Places not covered from the reserve and leave lists can take the number of places in the present call up to the 130 approved ones.
These 130 new places, together with the 106 offered in 2016, make a total of 236 ATCO positions in the past two years.
The calls for new air traffic controller positions are a result of the commitment by the Ministry of Public Works, via ENAIRE, to provide the air navigation manager with the human resources needed to safely and efficiently cover the growth in air traffic that Spain is experiencing.
