Filippo Poli Wins First Prize in ENAIRE Foundation Photography Award

The three award-winning photos will become part of the ENAIRE contemporary art collection

The ENAIRE Foundation, associated with the ENAIRE public business entity, has announced the winners of the 10th edition of its photography awards. ### Imagen embebida: IMG_NdP_042017_FalloPremioFotografía_Fundación2 ### Jurado X PREMIO FOTOGRAFÍA posando

The competition aims to promote art photography and build on the ENAIRE contemporary art collection. Submitted works can be on any topic but photographers must be Spanish or have exhibited in Spain during 2016.

Coinciding with the 10th edition of the photography awards, the ENAIRE Foundation increased the prize money for the three awards to €12,000 for first prize, €8,000 for second prize and €5,000 for third prize.

The judges included Julio Gómez-Pomar, Secretary of State for Infrastructures, Transport and Housing, chairman of ENAIRE and chairman of the board of trustees of the ENAIRE Foundation, who delegated his vote to the ENAIRE Foundation conservation director, along with leading cultural managers and artists renowned across Spain and abroad:

·         José Guirao, chief executive of the Montemadrid Foundation.

·         Carlos Rosón, chairman of the RAC Foundation and ENAIRE Foundation trustee.

·         María García Yelo, director of PhotoEspaña.

·         Visual artist Daniel Canogar.

·         2010 National Photography Award winner José Manuel Ballester.

·         Beatriz Montero de Espinosa, managing director of the ENAIRE Foundation.

·         Ángeles Imaña, ENAIRE Foundation director of conservation and cultural projects, as secretary.

The judges unanimously agreed on the following awards:

First prize, with prize money of €12,000, to Filippo Poli for his 2015 work entitled “Roça Agua Izé”. The judges valued its photographic quality, formal beauty and the research project that supports it.

Second prize, worth €8,000, to Ofelia García for her work entitled “DRG-3”, an innovative abstract photo with an interesting treatment of colour and transparencies which she made in 2017.

Third prize, with prize money of €5,000, to Tete Alejandre for his work “Se Vende”, combining a sociological analysis of housing with the plasticity of the colours that comprise it to create a highly aesthetic and harmonious ensemble.

The panel also unanimously selected seven works which together with the three award-winners will be included in the ENAIRE Foundation 2017 Photography Awards catalogue and the exhibition scheduled to open at the Cervantes Institute (calle Alcalá 49, Madrid) on 25 May. The exhibition will also be included in the PhotoEspaña International Visual Arts Festival, which this year celebrates its 20th edition.

The seven selected works are:

·         “Revolución 360º”, by photographer Roberto Aguirrezabala. PhotoEspaña Special Mention.

·          “Desde el umbral (En los límites del paisaje)”, by Sergio Pérez Acosta.

·         “# 26 Transcurso”, by José Martínez-Quintanilla Puche.

·         “REAL”, by Teo Barba.

·         “B&W FIVE”, by César Azcárate.

·         “Cuando aún nevaba #1963/2016”, by Jesús Labandeira.

·         “Telecabina”, by Llorenç Ugas Dubreuil.
