ENAIRE begins 2018 with a 6.5% increase in flights managed
Spain surpasses the European average (+4.8%)
ENAIRE, the company of the Fomento Group that manages air navigation in Spain, has begun 2018 with a 6.5% increase in flights managed. Air traffic managed in January amounted to a total of 134,199 flights, 8,143 more than January 2017.
The daily average of flights managed last month by ENAIRE was 4,329.
After 52 months in a row of increased flights, Spain has surpassed the European average, which was 4.8% higher in January.
Domestic flights, 30,777, increased significantly, by 11.6%. Overflights (flights whose origin and destination are not Spanish airports) also increased, with double-digit growth of 10.2% (30,748). International traffic was 72,674 in January, representing a 3% rise.
Traffic increased in all of ENAIRE's air traffic control centres: Canary Islands (+5.3% and 29,780 flights), Madrid (+6.4% and 81,683), Barcelona (+6.4% and 52,312), Seville (8.5% and 27,116) and Palma (+1.7% and 9,681).
