ENAIRE starts 2019 with a 7.7% increase in the number of flights operated
More than 5 years of uninterrupted air traffic growth
ENAIRE, Spain's air navigation manager, operated over 144,000 flights in January, 7.7% more (10,286 more flights) than in January last year.
That means 64 months (over 5 years) of continuous air traffic growth.
International flights (78,588) have increased by 7.9%; domestic flights (32,479), 7.3%; and overflights (33,137), 7.4%.
Traffic continues to increase in all control centres: Palma (11,457) has risen by 18.2%; Seville (30,779), 10.8%; Barcelona (57,950), 10.4%; Canary Islands (31,792), 6.8%; and Madrid (87,167), 6.4%.
Increase in international flights in Palma
Against the general backdrop of the increase in number of flights operated across ENAIRE's entire network, particularly noteworthy is the 34.2% increase in international traffic at the Palma Control Centre, with 4,443 flights in January. In December 2018 the increase was 41.2% and in November it was 12.8%.
