ENAIRE Drones web application exceeds 100,000 users during its first year
'ENAIRE Drones' web application has had 264,000 logins from 104,000 users in its first year of use.
ENAIRE Drones, accessible by visiting drones.enaire.es, is a free application designed to meet the needs of pilots and drone (or RPAS - remotely piloted air system) operators. It tells them where drones may be flown, helps them plan the flight and gives them the required aviation data and information to do so safely.
ENAIRE Drones receives 1,000 daily visits, each lasting an average of 5 minutes. Recreational drone users log into the site 66% of the times, professionals 33% and experimental users account for 0.4% of visits.
ENAIRE intends to continue adding new information layers and improve the usefulness and versatility of a service that will remain free of charge
More than half (53.2%) log in via mobile phones, 41.3% via PC and the remaining 5.5% via tablets.
Since its presentation a year ago, ENAIRE has been developing and adding further improvements to the tool, such as aeronautical symbology (displaying restricted areas and sectors according to VFRs , controlled traffic regions, etc), the possibility to plot the drone's flight path using coordinates, angles or distance and cadastral information layers, to mention just a few.
By using a map, this web application shows which zones in Spain's airspace may be flown by drones, as well as the areas to avoid, for example, protected areas for wildlife, terminal control areas in airports, heliports, aerodromes and military bases, or natural parks that require an additional permit to fly this type of aircraft.
The information available from ENAIRE Drones is taken from Spain's Aeronautical Information Publication (AIP), where ENAIRE publishes all information on restricted areas, procedures, manoeuvres and any regular updates that airspace users must be aware of. To see last-minute updates on activities such as air festivals or restricted areas during a specific time, you must always check the aeronautical notifications, known as NOTAM, and published by ENAIRE.
ENAIRE Drones is available from ENAIRE.es and shows the information that can be displayed on any desktop device or mobile phone.
