ENAIRE, 'GEBTA Trajectory Award' for its contribution to the Single European Sky
ENAIRE has been granted the '2019 GEBTA Trajectory Award ' for the crucial role it has played in developing and implementing the Single European Sky and the beneficial effects of its efficient Spanish airspace management.
On the occasion of the centennial commemoration of commercial aviation in Spain, GEBTA's Board of Directors emphasised that this award reflects ENAIRE's outstanding performance, making the national airspace service provider one of the world's leading air navigation and aeronautical information service providers in terms of traffic volume.
The importance of the service provided by ENAIRE for business trips and commercial activity was highlighted.
GEBTA (Guild of European Business Travel Agents) is Spain's leading business organisation in the business travel sector and a European benchmark organisation. This distinction, given during the GEBTA Awards in Barcelona, acknowledges ENAIRE's work in communications, navigation and surveillance, and the air traffic control service provided at Spanish airports.
"We have a top-class tourism and business industry, which deserves our full support, given its contribution to generating employment and wealth, and promoting our Country as Trademark itself", said Ángel Luis Arias, General Director of ENAIRE, after receiving this award in recognition of our technological potential and leverage in developing the European air navigation system.
These awards have been held annually since 1993, rewarding organisations and projects whose contribution to business trips, in terms of Initiative, Trajectory and Innovation is the most outstanding.
This year's 2019 Trajectory Award has been conceded to ENAIRE and the dedication shown by its 4,000 professionals who make up the company, and highlights how important the air navigation service is for business trips and commercial activities carried out by Spanish exporters.
Since the implementation of the Single European Sky (SES), the work undertaken by ENAIRE has turned it into one of the most important service providers of this EU legislative initiative. Among the main projects under the Single European Sky, ENAIRE stands out for its participation in the public-private SESAR Joint Undertaking partnership, which coordinates R&D+i activities for the Single European Sky; SESAR Deployment Manager, European SESAR infrastructure deployment manager; and as a founding member of the iTEC collaboration, which includes European suppliers of the future flight data processing system and control position.
The Single European Sky is an EU legislative initiative which aims to reorganise the continent's airspace and air navigation management system by advocating efficient, state-of-the-art air transport.
