ENAIRE surpasses the 2-million-flight mark for the year
ENAIRE managed 2,000,789 flights in the first eleven months of the year, 50,880 more than from January to November 2018. This represents a growth of 2.6%, higher than the European average, which stands at 0.9%.
ENAIRE handled 51.000 more flights that in the same period last year
So far this year, every traffic type has grown: overflights (flights that do not depart from or arrive at a Spanish airport) totalled 430,999 (+5.2%); domestic flights, 400,976 (+3.9%), and international flights, 1,168,814 (+1.2%).
By control centre, Seville handled 394,324 flights (+5%); Barcelona, 924,174 (+3.5%); Madrid, 1,098,408 (+2.4%); Canary Islands, 326,163 (+1.1%); and Palma, 318,352 (+0.1%).
Decrease in November
ENAIRE managed 147,954 flights in November, 0.7% fewer than in the same month in 2018. Although domestic flights went up 1.2% (33,689), international flights fell 1.4% (80,909) and overflights 0.6% (33,356).
The decrease in November affected every control centre except for Barcelona. From lowest to highest, the traffic figures for November are as follows: Barcelona, 60,813 flights (+3.1%); Madrid, 89,046 (-1.4%); Seville, 31,100 (-3.4%); Canary Islands, 30,154 (-4.5%), and Palma, 12,874 (-5.9%).
