ENAIRE begins 2020 with 141,000 flights managed in January, 2.4% less
ENAIRE managed 140,988 flights in January, 2.4% fewer than in the same month in 2019.
Traffic goes up in the control centres of Seville and Barcelona, and down in the Canary Islands, Madrid and Palma
More than half of all flights were international (75,834), outnumbering the sum of both domestic flights (32,237) and overflights (32,917), which do not depart from or arrive at a Spanish airport.
All types of flights registered decreases: international flights, 3.5%; domestic flights, 1.3% and overflights, 0.8%.
Seville, ENAIRE's fastest growing control centre
The most positive trend in the number of flights managed was reported at ENAIRE's Air Traffic Control Centre in Seville (31,422 flights, an increase of 3.1%). The Barcelona Control Centre registered 57,513 flights, a 0.2% increase over January 2019.
Air traffic fell in the control centres of Madrid (84,825 flights managed, 3.4% less), the Canary Islands (29,934, 5.9% less) and Palma (11,428, 6.9% less).
