Isabel Pardo de Vera, Secretary of State and ENAIRE's President, inaugurates the Master's in Air Navigation Services Management

Isabel Pardo de Vera, Secretary of State for Transport, Mobility and the Urban Agenda and ENAIRE's President, took part this afternoon in the opening ceremony of ENAIRE's Master's in Air Navigation Services Management at the company's headquarters in Madrid.

This event was attended by ENAIRE's CEO, Ángel Luis Arias, and the directors of the Master's programme, Fernando Gómez Comendador (UPM) and María Soledad Celemín Pedroche (UAM).

Pardo de Vera stated that "this programme represents a further step on the way to recovering the air sector, which our country has spearheaded in Europe in recent months, as evidenced by the statistics on air traffic growth published by EUROCONTROL".

For ENAIRE's president, "aviation must be one more cog in the 'wheel of mobility' in which no mode of transport is more important than any other; rather, they are all interconnected and compatible with one another, as determined by the needs of citizens and companies. The interconnection and harmonisation of the various modes of transport, now and down the road, are essential conditions for future mobility".

Pardo de Vera also emphasised the importance of education and training for the sector's recovery. According to the president, "a firm commitment to training and educating the men and women in aviation is not an option, but rather an obligation. And that's what we're doing at ENAIRE, together with the Polytechnic University of Madrid and the Autonomous University of Madrid".

ENAIRE's president also noted that "this Master's degree makes ENAIRE and all of you part of the answer and solution to the enormous and fascinating challenges facing the world of aviation".

The Secretary of State mentioned ENAIRE's strategic plan, Flight Plan 2025, where "training the professionals in the sector is one of the main goals, not only to better educate the company's human capital, but also as an investment in its international projection".

ENAIRE's CEO, Angel Luis Arias, highlighted the "strategic value" that training the professionals in the sector has for the company: "With this Master's degree, we want to train future air navigation managers and leaders"

The event was broadcast on the Zoom platform to ensure the capacity and social distance measures.

Diego Martínez, head of training at the ICAO, also interpreted the start of the Master's in Air Navigation Services Management as an additional sign of the sector's recovery, and noted that this is an example of international cooperation and partnership.

More information about the Master's degree:

This Master's degree is the only one of its kind in the world Students will be able to study this programme in person, with some content available in streaming or remotely on demand.

This postgraduate programme is the only one of its kind in the world, and is being offered in concert with the Polytechnic University and the Autonomous University of Madrid, as well as with the ICAO Global Aviation Training (GAT) Division, thanks to ENAIRE's membership in the Trainair Plus Programme (TPP).

This programme seeks to enhance the management skills of the personnel involved in providing Air Navigation Services (ANS) and of the staff employed by organisations that interact with these services. The aim of the Master's degree is to give candidates the specialised technical, operational and management knowledge needed to gain a broad understanding of air navigation services and the (current and future) context in which they are provided.

The course will start on 10 September 2021 and end by 1 July 2022. It will be attended by 55 students (25 in person and 30 online), 24 of whom are women. These are professionals from the sector in different fields (controllers, pilots, engineers, managers, etc.) who work in prestigious companies and entities, such as Indra, Telefónica, Aena, ENAIRE, Senasa and Aesa. There are also university students and professionals in the sector from Cuna, Uruguay and Costa Rica.
