The U-space Concept
ENAIRE took part in the 1st National Police Aeronautics Congress of Castilla y León, held as part of SeguCITY 2025, to discuss the role of U-space in airspace management.
This congress, held in parallel with SeguCITY 2025, addresses the current and future challenges of using aircraft in police and emergency operations, as well as the necessary coordination between manned aviation and drones. The growing importance of using unmanned aircraft in policing highlights their role as a key tool for public safety, environmental monitoring, traffic management, and emergency operations.
Among the keynote speakers was Daniel García-Monteavaro, Head of ENAIRE’s Drone Business Development Department, who highlighted the key role of U-space in the safe integration of drones into airspace. During his presentation, he explained how ENAIRE, in its role as the Common Information Service provider for U-space in Spain, is leading the development of technological solutions that will enable the safe coexistence of UAS and conventional aviation, ensuring efficiency, safety, and sustainability in drone operations.
Throughout this year, ENAIRE will apply for certification as a Common Information Service Provider (CISP) and as a U-space Service Provider (USSP).
Through its involvement, ENAIRE reaffirms its commitment to innovation, the digitalisation of airspace, and interinstitutional collaboration to enhance air and urban safety in a context of technological transformation.
