236 new air traffic controller positions in the last two years
ENAIRE will launch this Thursday a new call for air traffic controller positions
A new call for selective tests will be published on the 26th in the Spanish Official Gazette (BOE) in order to cover permanent positions for air traffic controllers in ENAIRE work centres within Spain.

This is the second call in two years, and it takes place after having received the required authorisation to contract 130 air traffic controllers on a permanent basis:
· 99 places in this call
· 15 places taken from the reserve pool of candidates set up in the previous call of May 2016
· A maximum number of 16 positions for controllers on leave of absence requesting to be reinstated
These new 130 air traffic controller positions, added to the 106 offered in 2016, make a total of 236 positions opened in the last two years.
These new positions are proof of the effort made by the Ministry of Public Works through ENAIRE to equip the air traffic manager with the human resources required to fulfil, with guaranteed safety and efficiency, the growth of air traffic currently experienced in Spain.
Requirements of the call:
· Foreign citizens that conform to any of the following cases may also take part in the call on equal terms:
- EU citizens and spouses of Spanish or EU citizens that are not legally separated and their descendants or the descendants of the spouse not legally separated under 21 years of age or over 21 if disabled
- Citizens included within the scope of the international treaties concluded by the EU and ratified by Spain in which the free movement of workers is applicable
· Foreign citizens legally residing in Spain
- Over 18 years of age and under 65
- Being in possession of a qualification granting access to univeristy: Secondary education qualification or equivalent studies in accordance with the provisions established in Organic Law 8/2013, of 9 December
· High level of English and Spanish, both written and spoken
· General knowledge on Air Traffic Control
· Possessing the required psycho-physical and functional capability in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2015/340 of the Commission of 20 February 2015
· No criminal record
Once the full conditions of the call are published in the BOE, they will be made available at ENAIRE's website (www.enaire.es), where the request for application can be presented.
ENAIRE's Flight Plan 2020: our ‘Roadmap’
Besides the challenges posed by the Single European Sky and technological modernisation, ENAIRE's Strategic Plan (Flight Plan 2020), which includes the roadmap to follow during the 2017-2020 period, especially focuses on the staffing requirements for upcoming years.
Accordingly, an appropriate number of air traffic controllers will be added to meet the needs arising within the current growing demand, and an improvement of the airspace efficiency will be established, which will result in providing a higher quality service to the users of our airspace.
