ENAIRE managed 430,000 flights in July and August, a 3% increase
Air traffic increased in all control centres: Canary Islands (7.8%), Madrid (3.3%), Seville (2.1%), Barcelona (1.9%) and Palma (0.5%)
ENAIRE, Spain's air navigation operator and 4th in Europe, managed 430,000 flights in July and August (429,803), 3% more than in the same period in 2017.
All traffic types have increased this summer (July and August): international flights were 265,436, an increase of 1.3%; domestic flights grew the most, 6.6%, with 77,573 flights; overflights (flights whose origin and destination are not Spanish airports) added to 86,794, a 5% rise.
In these two months the managed flights continue to grow fast in all ENAIRE control centres: Canary Islands (+7.8% and 59,923 flights), Madrid (+3.3% and 214,781), Seville (+2.1% and 78,525), Barcelona (+1.9% and 217,618) and Palma (+0.5% and 94,812).
Saturday 28 July, with 7,343 flights operated, was the busiest day and set a historical one-day record in Spain. In August, the day with most traffic was the 4th, with 7,292 flights.
August
In August the flights managed by ENAIRE professionals amounted to 214,050, 3.1% more than in the same month in 2017. Out of these, 132,272 were international (+1.4%); 38,218 domestic (+6.3%); and 43,560 overflights (+5.6%).
All ENAIRE control centres registered an increase in the number of flights managed in August: Canary Islands, 7.8% (30,243 flights); Madrid, 3.5% (106,569); Barcelona, 2% (108,643); Seville, 1.8% (39,230); and Palma, 0.2% (47,578).

From 1 January to 31 August, ENAIRE has managed 1,400,635 flights, representing a 4.4% increase compared to the same period in 2017.
Out of these, 827,572 were international (+2.5%); 280,576 domestic (+8.5%); and 292,487 overflights (+6%).
