Saura announces that the future venue of the ENAIRE Foundation in Santander will open with an exhibition of Eduardo Arroyo's work
During the presentation of “Eduardo Arroyo. El Buque Fantasma”, held at the Royal Botanical Garden of Madrid, Pedro Saura announced that it had been chosen as the inaugural exhibition to open Naves de Gamazo in Santander by mid-2020. This exhibition will include part of the ENAIRE Collection of Contemporary Art. Pedro Saura is the State Secretary for Infrastructure, Transport and Housing; the President of ENAIRE; and the President of the Board of the ENAIRE Foundation
Saura said, "It is a great pride and honour to be here, on behalf of the Government, celebrating this acknowledgement merited by Eduardo Arroyo, a versatile and intelligent artist with a strong social and political commitment."
This is Eduardo Arroyo's first exhibition after his passing on 14 October 2018. It is curated by his long-standing, close collaborator, Fabienne Di Rocco, and it gathers 38 works of sculpture and painting he produced from the year 2000 to 2018. In addition, visitors can enjoy a showing of the film Eduardo Arroyo. Exposición individual, a 24-hour monologue.

"The Ministry of Public Works would like to contribute to providing access to our country's art and culture through the ENAIRE Foundation", expressed Saura. The collaboration between La Fábrica -a renowned cultural management firm that organises festivals like PhotoEspaña- and the ENAIRE Foundation emerged as a result of this artist's significant role in the ENAIRE Collection of Contemporary Art. The 18 works of art included in the ENAIRE Collection are some of the most representative art pieces of his artistic output. It consists of a one large size oil painting (The Archangel Saint Gabriel), eight illustrations and nine engravings.
The poster for the exhibition “Eduardo Arroyo. El Buque Fantasma”, which can be visited from 12 January to 17 March, represents the latest work he produced from his palette. ‘El Buque Fantasma’ is an oil painting he completed in the summer of 2018 at his home in Robles of Laciana, in the province of León.
