ENAIRE will invest over 4.2 million to expand its Automated Air Traffic Control System equipment
ENAIRE, the air navigation manager in Spain, is going to invest more than 4.2 million euros (4,247,679 euros) over three years to expand the equipment of its Automated Air Traffic Control System (SACTA).
This investment addresses the need to increase the number of controller positions per control centre in response to increased air traffic, as well as to reinforce the system's availability when confronted with potential contingency situations.
This investment will also increase the amount of equipment used for the training and verification processes carried out at ENAIRE.
The equipment tendered must be fully operational in air traffic control centres and in ENAIRE's Testing and Development Centre.

What SACTA is used for
SACTA (Automated Air Traffic Control System) is the system that manages air traffic control. Its mission is to facilitate the provision of the ATS (air traffic) services that are entrusted to ENAIRE.
The system integrates every route, approach and aerodrome control centre in Spain so that management services can be coordinated and provided based on consistent data. It facilitates the uninterrupted operation of all the control units.
Internationally, SACTA allows automatic communications between Spanish and foreign control centres. To do this, it uses international data exchange standards, reduces manual actions to a minimum, automatically identifies potential conflicts and provides flexibility when reconfiguring operational airspace. It also minimises the effects of traffic peaks.
The SACTA system is constantly evolving and is updated to new versions so that changes can be implemented gradually.
