ENAIRE hosts an international congress on human factors and automation
Between today and Friday, Madrid is hosting a Congress on automation and human factors: "Human Factors & Systems Safety Thinking-Automation and Human Factors Integration", organised by EUROCONTROL, ENAIRE and the German air navigation provider, DFS.
Safety, the cornerstone of air transport, together with the human factor, innovation and the construction of the Digital Single European Sky
For three days, 140 experts will tackle the challenge of integrating human factors with automation processes in air traffic management.
Among those meeting in the Spanish capital are the heads of the Human Factors and Safety departments of European air navigation service providers and air carriers, as well as scholars, representatives from EUROCONTROL, the International Federation of Air Traffic Controllers' Associations (IFATCA), the International Federation of Air Line Pilots' Associations (IFALPA), the College of Commercial Aviation Pilots (COPAC), the Professional Association of Air Traffic Controllers (APROCTA) and the Air Controllers' Union (USCA).
The Congress was inaugurated by Ángel Luis Arias, CEO of ENAIRE; Antonio Licu, director of the EUROCONTROL Safety Unit; Jörg Leonhardt, Director of Human Factors and Security at DFS; and Isabel Maestre, director of the National Aviation Safety Agency (AESA).
In his speech, Arias focused on safety and sustainable air connectivity: "Safety is our top priority, in a context of growing air traffic that we need to make compatible with the environment and with excellence in the provision of air navigation service. All while giving the human factor the importance it deserves, which is fundamental, as expressly stated in ENAIRE's Strategic Plan, the Flight Plan".
Human Factors at ENAIRE
Air transport is a strategic sector for Spain: eight out of ten tourists who visit our country arrive by air.
In this context, ENAIRE is committed to the effective management of Human Factors in air navigation, in keeping with international standards, by creating a specialised management structure, the Human Factors Department, within the Safety, Quality and Environment Division.
The Human Factors Programme, which is horizontal in nature, is intended to effectively integrate the Human Factor into air traffic management, placing a well-deserved focus on the organisation's most valuable asset: its human capital.
