ENAIRE managed nearly 150,000 flights in February, 11.5% more than in 2023, a record year
ENAIRE, Spain's air navigation service provider, managed almost 150,000 (149,548) flights in February, 11.5% more than in the same month in 2023, a record year for flights, with close to 2.2 million.
Of those, 79,979 were international, a 14.0% increase, 36,184 were overflights (which do not land at or depart from a Spanish airport) (+8.9%), and 33,385 were domestic (+8.6%).
The increase in Spain in February exceeded the European average of 8.2% by 3.3 percentage points.
All ENAIRE control centres registered an increase in the number of flights managed: Seville recorded 36,566 flights (16.4%); Barcelona, 60,967 (13.0%); Canary Islands, 33,517 (12.1%); Madrid, 90,214 flights (11.1%); and Palma, 12,352 (5.6%).

In the first two months of the year, ENAIRE managed over 300,000 flights (300,538), 9.5% more than in the same period in 2023.
International flights in January and February (161,125) rose by 12.1%, overflights (73,185) by 7.8% and domestic flights (66,228) by 5.5%.
By control centre, the cumulative figures for Seville stand out, with 73,604 flights managed, 13.3% more than in 2023; Barcelona with 123,592, 11.4% more, and Madrid with 181,081, 9.0% more.

ENAIRE is the air navigation service provider in Spain.
As a company of the Ministry of Sustainable Transport and Mobility, it provides en route control services for all flights and overflights from five control centres in Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Gran Canaria and Palma, as well as approach services to every airport in the country.

ENAIRE, as the responsible agency identified by the Ministry of Sustainable Transport and Mobility to implement the U-Space system in Spain, will, through its digital platform, provide the Common Information Services (CIS), which are essential to facilitate U-space services to drones and Urban Air Mobility in cooperation with local air traffic services, so that all types of aircraft can fly safely in the same airspace.
ENAIRE has received the highest score in Europe on the aviation safety key performance indicator for four years in a row. It has also been awarded the EFQM 500 Seal for its safe, efficient, innovative and sustainable management of air navigation services.
