ENAIRE highlights the value of sustainable aviation in the tourism sector at Fitur
ENAIRE will exhibit at the Fitur 2025 international tourism fair, taking place from Wednesday, 22 January to Sunday, 26 January at the Ifema fairground in Madrid, showcasing its strong commitment to sustainability as well as its management and digitisation applications for new services.
ENAIRE’s projects and advancements in developing drone operations and Urban Air Mobility (U-Space) are also being presented
These include the EYWA management application, designed and developed by ENAIRE, which provides multiple layers of information tailored to the specific managerial data being analysed.
At Fitur 2025, ENAIRE will thus highlight its role in serving society through its dedication to providing an essential public service while acting as a key driver of tourism, a productive sector that accounts for more than 12% of Spain’s GDP, and whose development and growth rely heavily on aviation. In this regard, it is worth noting that of the more than 2.3 million flights managed by ENAIRE in the record-breaking year of 2024, over 1.3 million were international, a 9.5% increase compared to 2023.
Additionally, for the first time, visitors to the stand will have the opportunity to learn about drone flights. To this end, Fitur 2025 will offer a dedicated area where visitors can safely operate a drone. ENAIRE is collaborating on this initiative, which aims to raise public awareness that a drone is not a toy and must be operated responsibly within the limits of the applicable regulations.
Drones, sustainability and safety
ENAIRE is committed to developing drone operations and advancing Urban Air Mobility (U-space), which will enable future flights carrying goods and passengers using this innovative technology.
Another key aspect of ENAIRE's stand is the presentation of audiovisual material on different aspects of ENAIRE, such as its ENAIRE Drones application, and ENAIRE Planea, for planning drone operations safely.
ENAIRE also emphasises its environmental strategy, known as Green Sky, for a clean sky. ENAIRE invests in sustainable air transport by designing more direct, efficient, and less polluting routes.
It is worth noting that, during the record-breaking traffic year of 2024, with over 2.3 million flights, the efficiency of ENAIRE-managed routes led to a reduction of 3 million kilometres flown — equivalent to 94 trips around the Earth; preventing 57,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions; and saving airlines more than 18,000 tonnes of fuel compared to 2019.
Meanwhile, the ENAIRE Foundation is celebrating its 30th anniversary and will display the work of honorary photography award winner and renowned artist Chema Madoz. Additionally, the stand will feature a touchscreen, a ‘Window to Art’, which visitors can use to access cultural projects. Visitors will also be able to view the impressive exhibition by Chema Madoz, currently on display at the ENAIRE Foundation's Naves de Gamazo Art Centre of in Santander.
Pavilion 10
The joint stand of the group of companies of the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, which encompasses ENAIRE together with Aena, Adif, Renfe, Ports of the State and the National Geographic Information Centre, is located in Pavilion 10 at IFEMA.
As in previous editions, the stand is sustainable. Conceived as a large moving terminal, it aims to provide an opportunity to connect with its visitors and make them the protagonists of their own journey.
