ENAIRE handled 165,550 flights in January, 3.3% more than in the same month in 2025
ENAIRE, Spain's air navigation manager, handled a total of 165,550 flights in January, 3.3% more than in the same month last year.
In the last month, overflights (those that do not depart from or arrive at a Spanish airport) totalled 42,500, 6.3% more than in the same month last year. International flights (89,521) increased by 3.7%, and domestic flights (33,529) decreased by 1.5%.
In January, air traffic growth in Spain was 0.7 percentage points above the European average for the same month in 2025 (2.6%), and it exceeded it by 17.8 percentage points compared with the same month in 2019 (14.6% for Spain and -3.2% for Europe).
The Madrid Control Centre recorded the highest number of flights in January, nearly 100,000 (99,154), an increase of 4.2% compared to the same month in 2025. The Seville Control Centre recorded 42,371 flights (+6.7); the Barcelona Control Centre, 69,280 (+2.6%); the Canary Islands Control Centre, 37,709 (1.7%); and the Palma Control Centre, 12,425 (-1.8%).
Note. The total traffic registered by ENAIRE's network does not correspond to the sum of flights managed by each control centre (CC). This is because each CC records a flight depending on the route and airspace it crosses, but that flight is only counted once in the ENAIRE network as a whole. For example: a flight departing from Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport bound for Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat will be registered in both the Madrid and Barcelona CC, but only once in the network.
