Fly Clean

Through its Fly Clean Plan, ENAIRE is leading the transition to more sustainable aviation, with the goal of significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions across the airspace it manages. Through initiatives such as route optimisation, Free Route Airspace and performance-based navigation, the plan helps decarbonise air transport and reinforces ENAIRE's role as a key player in sustainable mobility.

In light of the actions ENAIRE is taking to help achieve the greenhouse gas emission reduction target, the Fly Clean Plan sets out the following projects:
- Emissions monitoring
- Participation in European initiatives and alliances
- Working groups on non-CO₂ emissions
The plan is expected to prevent nearly 40,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions between 2026 and 2030—equivalent to what 2 million trees absorb in a year. These results reflect ENAIRE's firm commitment to environmental sustainability and its capacity to generate a positive impact through the transformative potential of the actions defined in the Fly Clean programme.
Fly Quiet

ENAIRE promotes the reduction of aviation's noise impact on the population and protected natural areas. Through initiatives such as route redesign, systematic noise analysis, institutional collaboration and community engagement, it promotes a quieter, more mindful and respectful aviation.

The Fly Quiet Plan, in line with the aviation sector's sustainability objectives, seeks to minimise the impact of aviation on the population and protected natural areas, responding to the needs of today's society, which has an increased awareness and sensitivity regarding the impacts of noise and emissions on health and the environment. Specifically, it aims to:
- Reduce noise impact on communities near airports and under flight paths below 10,000 ft above ground level.
- Promote technologies, noise-abatement procedures and operating practices that reduce noise impact.
- Build in-house awareness and strengthen partnerships with public authorities, airlines, airports and communities.
The Plan covers the following projects:
- Systematic noise impact assessment for airspace projects
- Study of noise impact based on landing gear deployment point
- Evaluation of technologies to measure noise impact nationwide
- Participation in noise committees and working groups
- Public complaints handling
Eco ENAIRE

Eco-ENAIRE drives sustainability inside the organisation by decarbonising operations, improving energy efficiency, switching to renewable energy and managing resources and waste responsibly. In line with the European Green Deal and the 2030 Agenda, the plan builds an environmental culture among staff and includes projects on energy management, the transition to renewables, sustainable mobility, and outreach and engagement. Specifically, it aims to:
- Decarbonise ENAIRE's internal operations.
- Cut energy use through efficiency improvements and renewable sources.
- Build a sustainable culture across the organisation.
- Improve resource and waste management at all sites.
The Eco-ENAIRE Plan covers the following projects:
- Waste management—promoting and monitoring office waste sorting, phasing out single-use plastics, and selecting suppliers on environmental criteria.
- Renewable energy—installing solar panels, sourcing 100% renewable supply, replacing heating and cooling systems with high-efficiency models, and switching to more energy-efficient lighting.
- Sustainable mobility—fleet renewal with more efficient models, charging points at ENAIRE sites, and staff commuting plans.
- Communication and outreach.
Green Commitment

ENAIRE promotes excellence in environmental management with the goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2040, through a systematic, structured, and verifiable approach that allows environmental principles to be fully integrated at all levels of the organisation, specifically taking the form of:
- Better management through process efficiency and regulatory compliance (ISO 14001).
- Optimised procurement through continuous improvement and sustainability criteria.
- Position ENAIRE as a benchmark for excellence through environmental certifications.
- Carbon neutrality by 2040.
The plan covers the following projects:
- Climate transition and adaptation: building environmental awareness and staff engagement. Developing a transition and adaptation strategy through emission-reduction plans, climate risk analysis (physical and transitional), and climate change mitigation and adaptation measures.
- Continuous improvement of in-house environmental management through an ISO 14001-certified Environmental Management System.
- Certifications (Green ATM, Carbon Footprint, ISO 50001).
- Sustainable procurement as a driver of change.
- Introduction of Water Footprint measurement.
Environmental Responsibility

ENAIRE is strengthening its environmental commitment with a plan to reduce the environmental impact of its projects across the lifecycle—from design through implementation to operation. The plan aims to meet ENAIRE's environmental targets and apply mitigation measures where needed.

The plan covers the following projects:
- Awareness sessions. Embedding sustainability in ENAIRE's DNA starts with raising awareness of environmental principles and their benefits.
- Monitoring airspace and infrastructure design projects. Tracking how new airspace procedures are implemented is essential to check whether operational changes match the predicted impacts on the ground. In particular, impacts on natural areas, communities, distance flown and delays.
- Biodiversity studies and collaboration with businesses and NGOs. Reconciling airport operations with local wildlife, particularly birds, sometimes requires a closer look at nearby habitats to ensure they are not threatened by Single European Sky modernisation.
- Promotion of DNSH analysis in all infrastructure projects, with mitigation measures incorporated during the environmental advisory phase and active participation in environmental monitoring during implementation.
