• Spain's national air navigation service provider will support the Spanish Paralympic Team for Los Angeles 2028 through the ADOP Plan and will also sponsor the 'ENAIRE Team of Promising Paralympic Climbers’
• The Secretary of State for Transport and Sustainable Mobility, and President of ENAIRE, maintains that “support for those who need it most must take priority in seeking solutions at this historic moment of uncertainty”
The Secretary of State for Transport and Sustainable Mobility, and President of ENAIRE, José Antonio Santano, confirmed yesterday at the Higher Sports Council the signing of a collaboration agreement between Spain's national air navigation service provider and the Spanish Paralympic Committee (CPE) to support the training and preparation of Spanish Paralympic athletes through the Paralympic Sports Support Plan (ADOP), as well as initiatives promoting workplace inclusion through sport.
The agreement supported the Spanish team at the recent Winter Paralympic Games and will be key to preparations for Los Angeles 2028, where paraclimbing will make its debut as a Paralympic discipline. ENAIRE will also lend its name to the ENAIRE Team of Promising Paralympic Climbers, which will help the athletes with the greatest potential reach elite level.
“The two golds, the silver and the bronze won by Audrey Pascual and the outstanding performances of María Martín-Granizo and Higinio Rivero were a source of national pride, allowing us to look forward with ambition and hope to the 2028 Summer Paralympic Games in Los Angeles,” emphasised the Secretary of State.
Santano emphasised that "the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility regards mobility as a fundamental civic right, which obliges us to ensure genuine and comfortable accessibility for people with disabilities across all transport modes and infrastructure".
“If mobility is a right, then inclusion and support for those who need it most are a duty—one that makes us a better country and must take priority in seeking solutions to the challenges we face at this historic moment of uncertainty,” Santano stressed.
Life lessons for the whole of society
The Secretary of State also addressed the athletes present—triathlete Eva Moral and runners Álvaro del Amo and Alba García—highlighting their personal stories and sporting careers. “You are an example to us all because you demonstrate,” he said, “that we ourselves set both the barriers and the goals, that limits are merely a starting point, and that the determination and effort inherent in Paralympic sport are life lessons from which society as a whole can learn.”
Meanwhile, Alberto Durán, President of the Spanish Paralympic Committee, thanked ENAIRE and the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility for their commitment to inclusion. “This agreement represents much more than a sponsorship deal: it is a genuine commitment to equal opportunities and to recognising the talent of our athletes,” he said.
ENAIRE's support “will help strengthen the Spanish Paralympic Team's preparations for Los Angeles 2028” and, in particular, “will give the young men and women of the new ENAIRE Paralympic Climbing Prospects Team the opportunity to compete at the Games”. “When a public body such as ENAIRE commits to Paralympic sport, it contributes not only to competitive success, but also to ensuring that more people with disabilities have access to training and technical development programmes,” he concluded.
The event, held at the Higher Sports Council, was also attended by Enrique Maurer, Director General of ENAIRE, and Francisco Botía, Director General of the Spanish Paralympic Committee. Both had the opportunity to exchange views with the three Paralympic athletes, who shared their personal experiences.
Commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility
The ADOP Plan is an initiative of the Higher Sports Council, the Ministry of Social Rights, Consumer Affairs and the 2030 Agenda, the Ministry of Finance and the Spanish Paralympic Committee, designed to give athletes with disabilities the best possible conditions to prepare for the Paralympic Games.
ENAIRE's sponsorship funds multidisciplinary support services, talent identification and Paralympic technical training programmes, as well as initiatives that promote workplace inclusion and vocational training for people with disabilities through sport.
Through this sponsorship agreement, ENAIRE reaffirms its commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility and to the principles of the United Nations Global Compact, which it has been a signatory of since 2018. This means applying universal ethical values and principles to its corporate strategy. ENAIRE has thus opted for one of the alternatives set out in Royal Decree 364/2025 to comply with the so-called “reserve quota”, which requires Spanish companies with 50 or more employees to ensure that at least 2% of their workforce are people with disabilities.
