ENAIRE, Spain's air navigation service provider, managed over 240,000 flights (242,946) in August 2025, 3.7% more than in the same month in 2024, a record year.
The Barcelona Control Centre managed the most flights: 126,808 in the month
In August, there were 146,100 international flights, 4.6% more than in the same month in the previous year. Overflights (54,540), which do not land at or depart from a Spanish airport, went up by 4.5%, and domestic flights (42,306) fell by 0.4%.
This growth in air traffic in Spain in August compared to 2024 exceeded the European average, which was 3.9%. Compared to 2019 (before the COVID pandemic), the flights managed by ENAIRE in August exceeded the European average by 9.7 points (11.1% increase in Spain and 1.4% in Europe).
All ENAIRE control centres registered an increase in the number of flights managed in August: Seville recorded 53,409 flights (+6.0%); Madrid, 122,109 (+4.6%); Canary Islands, 35,863 (+4.6%); Barcelona, 126,808 (+3.3%) and Palma, 51,889 (+1.7%). The Barcelona Control Centre managed the most flights in August.

In the first eight months of the year, ENAIRE managed over 1.6 million flights (1,654,735), 5.0% more than in the same period in 2024. Overflights between January and August (379,788) increased by 6.3%; international flights (961,406) by 6.1% and domestic flights (313,541) by 0.3%.
This growth in air traffic in Spain so far this year exceeds the European average, which is 3.7%, by 1.3 percentage points. Compared to 2019, the flights managed by ENAIRE in the first eight months exceeded the European average by 14.2 points (13.5% increase in Spain and -0.7% in Europe).
All ENAIRE control centres have seen an increase in the number of flights managed so far this year: Seville, 379,012, 6.7% more than in 2024; Canary Islands, 285,328, 6.1% more; Barcelona, 798,860, 5.8% more; Madrid, 891,590, 4.9% more; and Palma, 267,583, 2.7% more.
